[part 2] The Coal Gasification Plant / 煤气厂

This month, I spent a few days in Datong, and I had time to go back to some of my favorite abandoned places in China. One of them was the coal gasification plant. My many visits there, from 2015 until 2018, allowed me to discover many treasures… If you are interested in the historical background of this industrial relic, you can read my first blog post about the Coal Gas Plant, available here. In this new report, you can appreciate how good it still looks.

In this report, I will focus on several buildings seen from inside.

Inside the main building

The main building has a very beautiful architecture both from inside and from outside.

More buildings in the factory

Apart from the main building, I could find other buildings. Some no longer had any machines.

But I could find the industrial train station.

This year, I went inside a few more buildings which still had « furniture ».

Until I publish another series of photos about this place, I confirm the slow redevelopment of this industrial wasteland into an industrial parc with design companies already settled inside (but also a rock climbing wall…?!?).
