I am a big fan of Beijing Amusement Park, even if most of its former architecture is now gone.
But the ruins of an amusement park always have a strong effect on some of us, making us fall back into childhood. Fortunately, this park will not be replaced by skyscrapers and will be rehabilitated in the near future. You can read my first report about it for more details about the place’s history and recent evolution. I think it will take some time for the construction to start and I wonder if the park will have the same configuration as before… Anyhow the former map is still there…
Being in Beijing during these days, I went there again. Still not many changes, it seems that the repairs have not started yet. The summer landscape looks really nice on the last ruins.
This former restaurant still carries the sign « Palace of the cranes », which is an interesting name as you can now see even more cranes living in this park and flying around. I thank my friend Yuxiao for making me want to write about this detail.
I also found a new bridge leading to another island with very cute jungle animals!
The only standing (very protected) element is the ferris wheel, dominating the area in her majestic beauty.
While waiting for rehabilitation, the abandoned park has an interesting ecosystem. Workers still take care of the green landscape, and some even grow vegetables inside. So as you can guess, this place is always interesting to visit. Let’s meet again in the next season!
