This summer, I was trekking from Gansu to Qinghai province starting from Xiahe, a famous pelerinage city for Tibetan Buddhism. The trek started from the Labrang Monastery and went through the grasslands. It was a long distance of 67 km so I could not really take time to wonder around too far from the trail.
But only 30 minutes after I started walking, I noticed a very interesting ruined architecture high up in the mountain.
Even if it was very high to reach, I went up there around the yaks and I was not disappointed: that was a ruined Buddhist temple. It is just too bad a thunderstorm was coming so the light in my photos could have been even better.
The roof of the temple was gone but it was still used for religious purposes.
Around the place, several young people were drawing the temple. But they were too far away from me and I could not ask them about the name, history or situation of the temple.
I will continue to gather information about the Xiahe area in order to find more details about this mysterious temple. In any case, its complete integration to the natural landscape conveys a nice perspective. You do not have to trek for three days to get there, just go through Labrang Monastery and follow the trail in the mountain.
